Wow our empty dinning room will soon be gracing this formal dinning furniture! I can't wait! It has taken awhile to find the right china cabinet that will fit under our tiered celing. So excited to have this empty room finished!

Patriotism of child inspiring

My neighbor asked me, If I read the article in the paper in the your view section. No I didn't! Your son delivers the paper and you need to read the article that someone wrote about him. So I found the paper and sure enough that is my son!

June 2nd 2011

To the editor:
I awoke this Memorial Day at 06:00 hours. I put on my sweats and a T-shirt and went out to the flagpole, by my front door, to lower colors to half mast in memory of my squad leader, who was killed May 19, 1966, in Vietnam. Also to honor all the thousands of men and women who have fought and died for my flag, country and freedom.
As I was lowering colors, bare-footed, with snow falling softly around me, I noticed a little person, the paper boy or girl, coming up the street to our house on Lamplighter Drive. This was someone barely 4 feet tall, bundled up against the cold. The paper bags were almost dragging on the ground. Their head was down as they trudged up the hill in the miserable weather so that I could have my news. As I watched them I imagined they were wishing they were somewhere warm, on a beach, riding their bike or playing with their puppy, with no other care in the world.
Do they wonder about the freedom that they have grown up with? Can they really know what freedom’s price is? As I post colors just for my own peace of mind and respect for those who have and will pay the ultimate price, I wonder, does it matter to this rising generation?
After completing the honor, I turned and went in my house and stood at the window looking at the flag and thinking. I noticed the small figure come up the few steps to my door, carefully place the paper out of the weather and start down the driveway to the next house. With the hood of their jacket hanging over their eyes, to shield them from the snow, they passed my flagpole, brought their gloved right hand up and, turning their head slightly to the left to try to look up at the flag, I saw them salute without missing a step. After just two or three more steps, they paused to fix something wrong with a shoe that was not important enough to stop for until after they had shown their respect.
I have never seen a little person, let alone very few large persons, go to the effort to show this honor in all of my 65 years. I will never forget that scene! If I had known it would happen I would have captured the image with my camera. I will have to be content to keep it in my mind and heart.
This little person has been taught and accepted into their heart more than I have ever thought little people are being schooled in these days. This is indeed a big little person, and I’ll bet there are more of them. God bless them all!

That is Wesly! So glad this was shared with me. And yes he is a very patriotic child. He's always adored the flag especially since 911 when he was not quite 2 and seeing the flag everywhere. He doesn't complain he bundles up and does his job without hestitating.

Zhafrei our new Pet!

Here is our new pet Zhafrei! he came from Riga, Lativia and traveled to LA where we picked him up and flew him to SLC and home.We have had him over a month now and he has been very enjoyable. He has a good personality. He visits everyone in the family. Loves to play with toys and anything to roll around from balls to pencils. Very curious. I would have loved to breed him, the person I got him from said, I could breed him if I like. Looked for a girl kitty and couldn't find one his age plus they were too young. Zhafrei is 1 1/2 years old. So we decided the best thing was to keep him our family pet.

Bon Jovi Concert

My husband & I went to Red Lobster for dinner and then to the Bon Jovi Live Concert in SLC and had a very good time.

Sometimes you don't know where the best seats are going to be in the house. But I think I faired pretty well on this one. We had a side view seating wasn't sure if that would go well. They had seating up on the top from the back of stage filled as well. And when Jon was on stage and jumped up on platforms behind the stage that lifted him up to acknowledge those sitting up there was incredible! He does love his fans!!! That you can tell. It's amazing he has gone so far and didn't let success destroy him at a young age.
